If you are a web developer or internet enthusiast, opening multiple tab in you Internet browser is your daily job. However, one fine day, out of 100 tabs you are opening, you found out that one of them is unresponsive! And you even cannot close it by using traditional right-click > Close tab. Worry not, there is a way to force close the Google Chrome tab.
First Thing First
Before proceeding to force-close the tab, just make sure the tab is truly unresponsive. Try to reload the page, click any link inside it, and most important, will it close if you click the Close Tab icon? If none of these prerequisite checking working, you can proceed with the steps below.
Force Close Tab with Google Chrome Task Manager
To force close an unresponsive Google Chrome tab, follow steps below:
- Click the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the browser.
- Go to More tools > Task manager. Click that and you will see a list of Google Chrome tabs and extensions that are currently running.
- Look for the unresponsive tab that you would like to force close, and then click it to highlight it.
- Click End process at the bottom right of the Task manager to force close the tab.
And you are done! The End Process function in Google Chrome Task Manager will force close the tab even though the tab is freeze or unresponsive.
